Album ‘Far Q’ is a powerhouse of urgency and punk catharsis seamlessly
blended with seriously infectious melody and reverence for the simple,
persuasive power of ‘The Song’. And atop it all sit Mike Duce’s lyrical
narratives, self-reflective and cunningly observational in equal
measure, simultaneously elegiac and brimming with fervent wit. One
moment you’ll nod with vigorous agreement as he lambastes generational
apathy on ‘Down With The Kidz’ or ‘I’m Not Bulimic (I Just Wanted To
See How Far I Could Stick My Fingers Down My Throat)’, the next you’ll
grin ear to ear as ‘A/S/L?’ or lead single ‘Taping Songs Off The Radio’
offer up wry commentaries for life on the Internet - but, before you
know it, you’re staring into the wide open veins of ‘Face Full Of
Scars’ and the album’s title track.
‘Far Q’ is the sound of
Lower Than Atlantis playing and purging like their lives depended on it
– three guys playing for the love of music, playing for themselves, and
in the process creating a striking partnership of music and message
that is set to strike a chord with many.
Smoking Hearts
The Smoking Hearts converged on George Street in 2007, in the heart of
backwoods England. Their raucous punk n' roll sound recalls "The Ramones" on heat playing
"Motorhead". The blueprint expanded stunt guitar solos matched with a
breakneck garage metal backbone and guttural vocal howls.
The Smoking Hearts" focus remains fixed on the stars, not the gutter.
They"re providing a call to arms for those who want to do something with
their lives, even if that something is just having a good time.
Now, The Smoking Hearts have set about following up the successes of
their first two self-released efforts, "BloodMoney" and "Give Em Hell"
by recording a new record. The ballsy and relentless effort is their
first full length LP, "Pride Of Nowhere".
Floods
Some kind of super group with all manner of sexy men from loads of crabxdown bands from around the Herts area. Melodic riffage and light/shade vocals in every direction.
The Working Dead
We are four gentlemen who play the punk rock music. We live in and
around Watford. We abide by the simple ethic of punk rock, which
entails rocking out at every given oppurtunity and pulling off sick
achievement jumps as required. We've got a bunch of 4 track demos
presented in very awkward yet very diy wallets, pick 'em up for
whatever you can afford at our gigs.
