INTERVIEW
The Eyes of a Traitor

1. When you write your songs what influences you to write them? We take a pretty wide range of influences, mostly underground bands like Architects & Fell Silent, not necessarily just sticking to the English underground scene though. American bands like The Devil Wears Prada's sound could be easily drawn to as an influence I guess. But it's not just metal, our drummer's mainly a funk drummer, so if you listen carefully you'll hear some funk moments or fills in his drumbeats, gives him a much more interesting playing style on the metal scene.

2. How did you all meet? Me (Ian - bass), Steve (guitar) and Dave (guitar) all knew each other cos we go to the same school, and I met Sam through some of my friends who go to other schools and so I introduced him to the others at some other times and then Steve knew Jack (vocals) through other people who live in Hertfordshire, just made friends with him that way

3. How did you come up with your band name? We used to work under another name, but when we decided we weren't happy with it we just sat down and it was the first name to randomly come out of Sam's head, and it just stuck

4. Whats your favourite feature/place, in Luton? It would have to be DTA Promo and the Student Union, and I'm not just saying that haha, the Student Union's a top venue to play at, and DTA have given local bands great opportunities to play with some huge names they've brought in like Terror and [spunge] to just name two

5. Where's the best place you have performed? Club 85 in Hitchin probably, the stage is nice and spacious, sound quality's been spot on whenever we've played there and it's all nice and air conditioned haha

6. What local bands do you like performing with and why? Probably our friends in skyofhope, it's always been a laugh playing with them. And whilst we haven't played with them yet, Vs.Akira are good friends of ours, their guitarist Paul helped us out when Steve was on holiday, filling in for us when we played with Enter Shikari. Postmortem Promises too, played with them a couple of times, top guys

7. How many times a week do you have band practice? Before we started gigging used to be about once a week just to get it all tight, now since we've got gigs to fill gaps it's gone down a bit, usually about once or twice a month, but what with gigs in between it's about all we need, writing new songs we tend to do at home, learn our parts seperately then put it all together at the practise

8. Who is the youngest member and the oldest member of your band?
At the moment, our guitarist Dave is the youngest at 15, with our other guitarist Steve being the oldest at only 16

9.Whats the best thing about being in a band?
There's a lot to choose from, but probably the best is the feeling that people come to shows to hear music that we created ourselves and put work into putting together and that they appreciate that would be the best part of being in the band.

And finally...

10. Where do you see your band in the future? It's a bit early to tell, but what we'd like is just to maybe tour a few times, put out a full length and see where that takes us, but since we're so much younger than most bands at the moment we're very happy with everything that's gone right for us so far so we'll see what happens
