My last gig as the 'A' of DTA will be on Saturday 30th June...
As some of you may already know, there will be a big change in DTA at the start of July. I'm moving to Nottingham to give myself a bit of a challenge and see what I can do with myself there. As being in DTA isn't really a job you can do long-distance, this means I'll be leaving DTA Promotions. Before you ask, no this doesn't mean DTA is finished - Dave and Tom are still going to carry on, maybe with a replacement, thats up to them. They'll still be doing everything they can to bring the best gigs to you that this town has ever seen, just like we've been doing for the past two years.
I'm going to try and get myself a job at a venue in Nottingham, doing something along the same lines as what I'm doing now but working for someone, rather than for myself. No idea if it'll happen, but I'm definitely up for giving it my best shot. I've learned so much in the course of being in DTA, and working with Dave and Tom has been fantastic. There's been good times and bad times but I love that we've overcome so many problems to put this town on the musical map.
There's loads of people I want to thank for helping DTA, or me in particular, over my time here. First and foremost is obviously Dave and Tom for everything we've done together. Andy Pullinger of Remedy Sound - he has been invaluable in proving to the bigger touring bands we've had that they can't beat the quality of the sound engineering in Luton. Liam, or DJ Lemo as some like to call him, for DJing for us all the time and asking little in return. The people at the Student Union - Darren, Aimee, Josie, Terry, Dave, James, the doorstaff. The other promoters in the town, who often help us out by plugging gigs - Claire Peter, Paul Curry, Andy Sizmur, Ginger John to name a few. The bands we've had - there's too many to mention all the ones who've gone that extra mile for us, but a few that spring to mind would be Pirate Radio, Elements of Refusal, Firstborn (RIP), Blumunki and Novacaine. All our street teamers, especially those who've gone above and beyond the call of duty (Tony, Ryan, Alicia, Sarah and everyone else). All the forum crew, especially those people that stuck with the site even when there was hardly any traffic on it - Ian, Wil, Abbott for example. Nathan and those lovely chaps at Basick. And of course, everyone thats supported their local scene by coming down to one of our gigs. Safe as f***.
You'll still see me coming back every so often, got to pay everyone a visit now and again. But my last gig as the 'A' of DTA will be on Saturday 30th June. I'm picking the lineup, it'll go up on here first as always when its confirmed. It'd be great to see you all there.
Until next time!
